Fetlar Lodge - Self Catering Holiday home on the sea on the island of Fetlar in the Shetland Isles, Scotland
Welcome to Fetlar Lodge on the island of Fetlar in the Shetland Isles in Scotland. The Lodge is a lovely seaside holiday house, with accommodation for up to six people.
Just a stone's throw from the sea with superb uninterrupted views across the bay, we are located conveniently in the middle of the island within walking distance of the pier & beach, island shop & cafe and the museum.
It was originally built as the gardeners cottage to Leagarth house by Sir Watson Cheyne ( a pioneering surgeon who grew up in Fetlar) in approximately 1900. The Lodge has recently undergone extensive renovation making a modern comfortable house whilst retaining all the original features.
The Lodge
The Lodge has three double bedrooms. The Master bedroom is South facing with a large bay window which gives lovely views of the bay and garden. It has a lovely kingsize bed, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers cum dressing table. A hairdryer is supplied.
The second bedroom also faces South with two windows also offering views over the garden and bay. It has twin beds that can be converted to a lovely super kingsize bed and a chest of drawers cum dressing table.
The third bedroom looks up the hill. It is the smallest of the three bedrooms but comfortably fits a double bed and chest of drawers.
The Lodge has recently been fitted out with a modern new kitchen. It has a hob, separate oven, microwave, toaster, cafetiere and dishwasher and is well provided with utensils and cooking equipment. There are plenty of dishes, bowls and cutlery. There are table and chairs which can seat up to six or can be folded down to accommodate two or four people as required. The kitchen is conveniently accessed either from the garden and parking area or the sitting room. There is also a separate utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The sitting room faces South and is very light and airy with a large bay window overlooking the garden and sea beyond. It has a comfortable sofa and armchairs, a new TV with multiple channels and is well equipped with games and books for visitors.
The bathroom has a bath with shower over to accommodate both those who like to shower and those who prefer a bath, especially those with small children.
The house benefits from the space and privacy of being inside the Leagarth estate walls but also has its own pretty private garden and parking area. There is free 24 hour wifi and well behaved pets are also welcome.
The Peerie House
The Peerie House is located inside a walled garden next door to the Lodge. With views over the bay.
It has one bedroom with twin beds which can be pushed together on request. There is a pretty sitting room overlooking the bay with a sofa and table ( which seats up to four people), leading onto a galley kitchen, and generous shower room.
Although the kitchen is small it is well equipped with a hob, oven, microwave, toaster, cafetiere, electric hand whisk in addition to a good range of cookware and tableware. In the adjoining outhouse there is a freezer, washing machine and tumbler dryer.
Fetlar is one of the Northern Isles within the Shetland Archipelago. It is known as the garden of Shetland which is evident in the lush green flora. It has a magnificent coastline which is the playground for otters, seals and occasionally whales together with a large variety of sea birds, whilst the many beautiful sandy beaches are quiet and unspoilt.
