General Information

Dunfermline is located in the Highland region of ScotlandUnited Kingdom, and was Scotland's capital until 1603.  There are many historical places to see and which form part of the town - the ruins of the royal palace, a 12th century abbey, amongst many others.  Built on a hill, and dominated by the abbey, the town is a hive of activity with its ever-increasing size attesting to its booming economy.

James I was born in Dunfermline in 1394, Charles I in 1600 and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie in 1835.  The weaver's cottage where Carnegie was born has been preserved and extended as a museum of his life.

The pedestrianised shopping areas, narrow cobbled streets lined with buildings sporting gargoyle's, Dunfermline is filled with unique character.
