Lanark
General Information
Lanark is a small town in the central belt of Scotland. The name is believed to come from the Cumbric Lanerc meaning "clear space, glade". Lanark is traditionally the county town of Lanarkshire, though there are several larger towns in the county. Lanark is a historic market town in the Clyde Valley and is one of the oldest royal burghs in Scotland, United Kingdom, and is situated on the River Clyde. The village has an historical authenticity honed over the years to maintain what was from 1785.

- Bus services connect Lanark to the surrounding area and larger towns such as Motherwell, East Kilbride and Glasgow. The town's train station provides links to several destinations including Glasgow, Uddingston and Cambuslang. Lanark is easily accessible by road via the A721 and A71.
