General Information

Islay​​​​ is located in the Highland region of ScotlandUnited Kingdom, and is the most southerly of the Western Isles.  Islay is home to the Highland single malt whiskies Lagavulin and Laphroaig.  

Famous for its many whisky distilleries and large and varied population of birds, Islay is a scenic island with lovely beaches and historical sites, popular with both tourists and locals alike as their holiday destination of choice.

Islay is made up of villages with terraces of small, single-storey houses lining the coast, such as Port Ellen and Port Charlotte, along with stone circles, crosses and fine forts in evidence of Bronze Age settlements.

Diving is a popular activity around Islay as there are some interesting wrecks dotted below sea-level providing endless hours of underwater pursuits, for the avid diver.  Islay is home to its own airport with regular flights to and from Glasgow.  Travelling around the islands are made easy via ferry and is popular for day-tripping.
